Time for impunity?…
A Shameful Spectacle!
… I don’t think so. We all have had enough of Trump. It is time for defenders of democracy to act. Urgently. Switftly. Vigourosly.
Watching on CNN a handful of Trump’s supporters occupying the premises of the U.S. Capitol, and forcing the evacuation of lawmakers and of the Vice-President of the country, who were supposed to certify the votes of the Electors (a ceremony that was suspended for security reasons), various thoughts rushed to my mind.
First of all, I failed to understand the evident level of unpreparedness shown by the Capitol’s security forces for an event important enough, and for a date clearly announced sufficiently beforehand by Trump’s convocation to his supporters.
The D.C.Governor (if that exists in a DC), the Chief of Police, or whoever was responsible for that weak defense of democratic values, must offer a satisfactory explanation (if that is possible), or be forced to resign.
Furthermore, just weeks before, the BLM group organized a peaceful protest at the same location, but waiting for them was a huge contingent of the National Guard, plus the Police, both in full combat armor, all of which emanates a repulsive stench of racism, doesn’t it?
But, all members of the mob invading the Capitol, were all cannon-fodder of President Trump, who cowardly watched the show on TV in a bunker of the WH, despite having promised the mob he would be with them at the Capitol, while, at the House, (coordinated?) subversive GOP members of Congress, headed by Senator Ted Cruz, who, just for fear of Trump’s negative reaction, and its effects on their political careers, and for pure political ambition, with no principles, despising voters’ will, signed a document prepared by Senator Cruz, asking Congress to ignore the validity or the Electors earned by Joe Biden through the popular vote, in an election they consider invalid — but without ever showing any evidence whatsoever — , and replace those Electors by ones favoring Trump.
They all must be considered enemies of democracy, and along with Trump himself, must face public judgment at one point or another, for they all are traitors, who, under oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the U.S.A., attempted nevertheless against it, and against America’s chosen way of life.
