Maduro said it loud and clear at the beginning of his mandate: “Even if the rest of the world is against us, we will defend our revolution”, he said.
Venezuela: Are the Bad Guys Going to Win, After All?
All supporting countries favor a pacific solution, which I think is an impossibility.
Referring to the dramatic situation that Venezuela lives, all I hear from representatives of Opposition-friendly countries is that they would support only a pacific solution.
Unless force is applied, Maduro and his cronies won’t leave power in Venezuela.
Of that, I am totally convinced.
In my opinion, thousands of soldiers and officers of the Venezuelan army, fearful today of the Cuban G-2 and their band of snitches, will raise in arms as soon as they see signs of military action from the outside.
All the U.S. would have to do, for instance, would be to announce that an expeditionary force is being sent to Venezuela — trough Panama’s canal, for instance — for a multitude of Venezuelan militaries, currently under the dangerous watch of the Cuban G-2, to rebel against their captors, so not a single American life would be at risk.
Why is it that the Americans should do that for Venezuela?
Well, there are several reasons, in my opinion:
- The U.S. should not, can not, allow another Cuba so close to its territory.
- Venezuela was always, and still is, strongly pro-American. Trade is at stake.
- The U.S. — for the long-term survival of its own way of life — needs to stop the entrance to Latin America of different, autocratic, living systems, e.g.: Russia, China, …
- Like it or not, there is a U.S’.s leadership expectation, in the whole of Latin America, which the U.S. should not ignore.
- Please, do not worry about the reaction of China or Russia. All they would want is repayment guarantees on their investments in Venezuela. None of them would want a conflict with the U.S for — otherwise insignificant to them both — Venezuela.
The well-intentioned sanctions imposed by Trump’s administration against the Government of Maduro, will not make him or his followers, to leave power in Venezuela.
On the contrary, they will make the life of the ordinary residents in the country even harder, while, at the same time, they will provide the dictator with a “scapegoat” to whom to blame for all the penuries the residents of Venezuela will suffer: Shortages of food, medicines, power, drinkable water…shortages of everything, the same way that the so-called “bloqueo” by the U.S. of Cuba failed for more than 50 years, to terminate the dictatorship of the Castros.
Please, remember that the bandits governing Venezuela currently, like all other autocracies: Cuba, China, North Korea, Russia, etc., play the political game long-term, while occidental democracies change, sometimes even their most basic policies, every 4, or 5 years, 8 or 10 at the most, in those countries admitting Presidential re-election, with always some democratic countries “forgetting” all abuses committed by autocracies in the past, like the U.S. Government of Obama recent re-establishment of diplomatic relations with Cuba, or the unanimous petition of Latin countries for the re-admittance of dictatorial Cuba in the OAS (OEA, in Spanish).
The entrance in Venezuelan territorial waters of a U.S. aircraft carrier is probably all which would be needed to provoke an explosion of anti-Chavismo in the Venezuelan military ranks.
Is this utopian? No, not with a U.S. President like Donald Trump.
There are, in my opinion, more and better reasons for U.S. President Trump to go to war against Maduro and the Chavistas, than there was for ex-President of the U.S., Bush, to declare war on Irak (the lie of mass destruction weapons apart).
Maduro and the Chavistas, after all, are guilty of committing genocide against the Venezuelans, utilizing for such a sinister purpose, unconventional weapons of mass destruction: Hunger, and lack of medicines.
I hope that it will not be too late, for the democracies of the Americas finally realize the true nature of the band of rascals dis-governing Venezuela, and understand that, other than by force, those bandits will never take their claws out of Venezuela.
