You are 100% correct. It is an admission of guilt.

And the American electorate will remember the role of the Republican party in it.

By now, I'm convinced Mitch McConnell, and many if not all Republicans, consider American voters stupid and gullible.

By saying something today, and saying the opposite tomorrow, like McConnell, or by defining the insurrectional events on January the 6th at the Capitol, as "normal" during a touristic visit, like other key party’s members, Republicans must be thinking Americans are stupid. No other explanation is possible, as everybody witnessed the videos of the tragic events, costing the lives of half a dozen Americans.

I may be wrong (I hope I'm not), but those Americans believing in the democratic system (the vast majority in my opinion), will remember in the 2022 mid-term elections, the role of the Republican party in the shameful, violent events of January the 6th in the Capitol.

Time will say.
